Are Jumpers Good Items To Buy As Gifts?

No matter whether you are buying for a Christmas present or a birthday or anything in between, buying presents for other people can sometimes be a taxing task.

But what about buying a jumper for someone? Is this a great idea or should you steer clear of clothing and go for something else instead?

A jumper is something that most people have in their wardrobe so in principle buying someone a new one will be a good idea. But you do need to know them very well if you are going to do this. You need to know the answers to a lot of questions to buy it successfully. What colours do they like? What style of jumper is their favourite? Could you pick out the right pattern if you had to? What clothes do they generally wear their jumpers with?

If you have a good idea about the answers to all these questions you might be in luck. But if you are struggling to answer them you are probably better off not worrying about buying a jumper at all. Perhaps you could buy a gift voucher for their most popular place to get jumpers from instead?

If you are set on buying a jumper for them, at least hang onto the receipt. You can usually get gift receipts if you ask for them, so find out if this is possible and what the returns policy is before you actually buy it. You might decide to opt for wrapping the jumper up and popping the receipt in with it. This isn’t ideal but if you know the person well they will probably appreciate you giving them permission to swap it if necessary.

Think about the size you will need to buy as well. If you don’t know and you are reduced to guesswork this is never a good position to buy from. Since many shops vary slightly in their sizes anyway you might end up with a low chance of getting the right size. Unless you are very sure of yourself you might want to give it a miss.

As you can see there are several stumbling blocks to buying a jumper for someone as a present. It is possible to get it right, but you really need to know your stuff to tip the odds more firmly in your favour in this situation.
