More to the point, did you even know such a thing existed? Apparently they do, and they aren’t exactly a new thing either. Marks and Spencer introduced organic jumpers into their range back in 2007, and you don’t need to go far online to find various jumpers that are organic in nature being offered for sale.
The question is, are they any different from your normal kind of jumper?
Well they are by and large, but you do need to be aware that organic means different things for different producers. You can occasionally buy organic jumpers from well known stores you will find in your local high street, as is evidenced by the above example from M&S. But no two providers will have exactly the same source for their clothing, and that means you should check into the details of the garment before buying it. This is particularly true if you are keen to know it has been produced according to your own high standards.
Of course you can expect to pay more for these items than you will for standard jumpers produced in more traditional ways. But you are arguably getting a better product if you go organic, even though it will cost you more.
In the end most of us probably won’t chuck out all the jumpers we own now and replace them all with organically made ones. But it is good to know we can at least start to move in the right direction. Not everyone’s budget will stretch to this kind of item of course, but for those who do care about the environment and where our clothing comes from, this could provide an answer.
Another point to bear in mind is that if you are looking for a more unusual gift for someone and you are completely stuck for ideas, you can buy an organic jumper instead of something a bit more basic. No one would be disappointed at receiving one of these, and they would be getting something that turns the idea of the jumper given as a gift on its head. Who knows, it may even be the best jumper they have ever been given!
