Some people have both jumpers and cardigans in their wardrobe. Others have just one or the other. While these two garments are very different from each other there could be valid reasons why you would only want to choose one over the other, and in reality they both have advantages to them.
For example some people don’t like feeling restricted by a jumper. If you tend to overheat very quickly you might feel more comfortable in a cardigan because at least you can unbutton or unzip it to let some cooler air in. With a jumper you either have to wear it or you don’t – and you might find you are too cold without it and too hot when you put it on.
If this sounds familiar you might be better off wearing cardigans than jumpers. Although you do have the option of buying thin jumpers that work well with a t-shirt or other kind of top underneath. Jumpers make you think of huge woolly efforts with a thick knit to them, but in reality they are available in all kinds of thicknesses. So when you buy one make sure you try it on to see how well it fits you and whether the thickness is ideal.
Cardigans have the advantage that they can be worn as an alternative to a jacket if you wish. On cooler days when you don’t need a jacket but you still need something to keep you warm, a cardigan is the ideal solution. Having a range of them in your wardrobe gives you so many more options for creating an outfit that keeps you warm as well as makes you look stylish and ready for anything.
You don’t have to opt for buttons either if you don’t want to. Zipped cardigans are widely available and they provide a more modern twist on an old favourite. So as you see you have lots of choices and if you pick cardigans over jumpers or vice versa, it doesn’t mean you are stuck with a single style.
Once you know what style you would prefer you can enjoy filling up your wardrobe with one or the other. But don’t forget it might still pay to have one or two of the other item in there as well. Having the biggest number of choices no matter what the weather is like is the best position to be in.
